To enhance the parking experience in several busy areas in Oranjestad, paid parking has been implemented in Aruba to stimulate parking flow. The paid parking spaces in Oranjestad centre around Caya Betico Croes, also known as the Main Street and the L.G. Smith Boulevard, the main road by the Renaissance Resorts, shopping centres and the Aruban parliament building.
The usual parking spaces are highlighted with white lines to mark each individual space, along with registration numbers. The yellow-lined parking spaces are for employees and permit-holders only and are not available for public parking. Please note the differently coloured spaces as you park your car.
Druif Beach, a long, oval-shaped stretch of ivory sand, is home to the casual resorts of the Eagle Beach area.
Tariffs. The tariff for paid parking in Aruba is noted on the parking machine in Aruban Florins (Afl), but you can also pay in American $ cents: 30 min: 1 Afl = $0.55 for 90 min: 2 Afl = $1.15 for 90 min: Afl 0.50 cents for every additional 15 minutes = $0.30. SmartCard. Carrying a lot of coins in your pocket is not much fun, but luckily you can also purchase a rechargeable Aruba parking SmartCard for Afl 15, -. This parking card comes with a balance of Afl 10. Keep the card for your next trip: your credit won’t expire! The SmartCards are sold at most hotel gift shops and car rental companies and can be recharged at any Aruparking/Arubus recharging station. Important: If your vehicle becomes clamped because of forgetting to pay for your parking space, parking in a yellow parking space or running over the paid time, you will be required to pay Afl 75. After three hours of unpaid parking, your vehicle will be towed away and the additional Afl 150 will be charged to you. You can pay your parking fines at the Aruparking office.
