Aruba Customs & Border Protection

In order to make your journey back home as easy and stress-free as possible, be sure to read the rules about exporting items.

As instructed by the Directorate of Civil Aviation, there is a list of prohibited items for all passengers and luggage screening checkpoints at the Aruba Airport.

For passengers traveling to the United States. You can avoid monetary fines and travel delays by declaring the following permissible food items to the U.S. Customs & Border Protection - Aruba.

  • Pasteurized/Hard Cheese
  • Seafood
  • Poultry (cooked)
  • Bananas
  • Bakery Items without pork/beef

Consume meals purchased outside the airport prior to entering the Aruba CBP inspection area. Meals purchased within the Aruba Airport are permissible for onboard consumption but should be declared. 

Edible items you brought or bought may be permissible to the United States but must be declared and inspected.

Important notes:

The export of Aruban sand is prohibited by law unless the traveler possesses a valid permit provided by the Government of Aruba.

Importing and exporting seashells is prohibited according to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. 

In case this rule is violated:

  • Airport staff will confiscate the shells
  • Customs officers will be called to take over
  • A fine will be  issued

Fines can only be paid with a debit card or with cash.
