Deep Sea Fishing in Aruba

Catch your 'beauty of the ocean' and hop aboard on one of the many deep sea fishing charters in Aruba that hunt for game fish.

Aruba is a haven for deep sea fishing, with about 18 sport fishing charter companies offering adrenaline-rushing half-day and full-day excursions on sports yachts.

The island allows for the best fishing in the Caribbean. Why? As the waters are rich in trophy-sized species. Join local fishing crews in Aruba on their boat five to seven miles offshore for game fish such as mahi-mahi, bonito, dorado, amberjack, black and yellowfin tuna, barracuda, sailfish, kingfish, blue marlin, and shark. Catch your own and make sure to strike a pose back in the harbor with your unique catch.

Turtle Nesting Season

Volunteers from Turtugaruba devote many hours to educating the community, as well as watching over and protecting the nests during the season.

You may have noticed that there are many seafood items on the menus of our local restaurants. Deep sea fishing in Aruba is a very popular pastime, and it is very likely that the “Catch of the Day” you had for dinner was caught that way. Visitors can also enjoy the adventurous experience of Aruba fishing for themselves. Many Aruba fishing charters will offer tours that facilitate deep sea fishing and even provide tips for fly fishing in Aruba.

Bottom fishing is done in shallower water (100-300 feet deep) with the engine stopped, drifting over spots known to have concentrations of fish such as snapper, grouper, triggerfish, and squirrelfish.

Today, there remains about 120 full-time active fishermen on Aruba. Fundacion Centro di Pesca Hadicurari, tucked between Moomba Beach and Marriott's Aruba Surf Club in Palm Beach, is a gathering place for fishermen and their families. You can join for a local bite and drinks, yet it is also dedicated to preserving Aruba’s fishing tradition, trying to balance it with modern methods.

We’re just getting started with the amazing effects Aruba has to offer. Dig into your trip details below to unlock a Caribbean experience that will fill you with sunshine and send you home with a happy afterglow that never fades.
